Creating Forage Chains

Explore ways to create a continuous forage chain throughout the year, utilizing grazing techniques, cover crops, and practices that reduce feed costs and improve farm profitability with the Crow Wing River Basin Forage Council.

Demonstration and discussion topics will include:

1. Grazing Management during a drought: What worked for the Flanagans this year? What didn't? Stocking rates, triggers.

2. Extending stored feed during a drought: grazing out grain, stalks, straw, and byproducts.

3. Stocking and forage chain options for 2022: cool season and warm season annual mixes.
