Pasture Soil Health Field Day

Southwest Badger RC&D is hosting a field day on pasture soil health from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 11 at Jacobson Rd, Dodgeville, Wis., as part of SFA’s Soil Health Network event series.
The field day will discuss pasture renovation, choosing cover crops, grazing cover crops, and building soil quality. A pasture tour and discussion will simulate effects of a 2-inch rainfall, examine a 3-ft-deep soil pit, discuss results of a Haney Test of soil biological function, and compare growth of cover crop species including sorghum sudan, cowpea, sunflower, forage oats, forage winter triticale, peas, and brassica.
