SFA East Central Chapter will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday March 23rd at the community room in Coborn's, 209 6th Ave NE, Isanti. 

 

This meeting will feature Zachary Paige who will speak on Sustainable Vegetable Seed Production for Farmers. This workshop will go over the three legs of sustainability (Ecological, Economic and Social) as they relate to on-farm seed production. Topics discussed will include basic concepts and techniques for on-farm seed-saving, how to assess whether seed production makes economic sense for your operation, and community engagement around seeds of cultural and culinary importance. After the presentation, we will have a discussion regarding community efforts to save and store seeds such as seed banks, seed libraries and examples of successes and challenges that lay ahead.

 

Whether you are an East Central Chapter member, intereseted in joining our chapter farmer-to-farmer network or interested in supporting sustainable farming and access to locally raised or grown food, fiber or forage this is the place to be.  This event is free to Sustainable Farming Association Members.  All others are asked to give an at-will donation at the door.  Everyone is welcome.  RSVP is requested for planning purposes.
