Forest Fall Work Day

11/19/2021 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM CT

Description

Grab your gloves and your flannel for a Fall work day at McClure's farm, hosted by the Central Chapter! We will be gathering in the woods on November 19th, from 9am - noon to witness practical chainsaw skills and work as a community to assist an SFA member in clearing trees on their farm that were downed in a recent storm.

As an organization and a chapter, we play a role to support each other as farmers and stewards of the land. This event is intended to teach practical skills, while also providing needed assistance to an emerging farmer in our network. While we recommend that only experienced individuals use a chainsaw at this event, there will be meaningful work for participants at all skill levels, and the ability to learn more about shape tools. Join us for a day of camaraderie and a meal! Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to ensure we have sufficient food.

**If you will be using a chainsaw or other sharp tools, these are safety equipment items you will need to provide:

-Hard hat (required)

-Hearing protection (required)

-Eye protection (required)

-Gloves (required)

-Chainsaw chaps (leg protection - optional)

Registrants will be sent directions (near Melrose) from the host. If you have any questions or register after November 17, please contact Kyle McClure: kylethom@gmail.com

If you have something you need help with on your operation, or would like to host an event, please send an email to central@sfa-mn.org. We look forward to continuing to grow our calendar of events and ability to help each other through our farmer-to-farmer network.

Registration is required. SFA's COVID-19 Preparedness Plan will be implemented at this event.
