Greenhouse/High Tunnel Management for Organic Veggies
Description
Join Food Farmers Janaki Fisher-Merritt and Dave Hanlon and UMN Extension Educator Natalie Hoidal for this field day on growing organic vegetables in high tunnels. We will discuss crop rotation, pest management, and maintaining soil health. We will have demonstrations on scouting for common insects and diseases that plague greenhouses and acidifying irrigation water to mitigate pH issues. The Food Farm is the biggest producer of local organic veggies for the Duluth area, growing on 15 acres and in 9 high tunnels.
This event is hosted by the Lake Superior Chapter of SFA.
Fee: $5 for SFA members; $15 for nonmembers. Registration requested. Walkups welcome.
Address: Food Farm, 2612 County Road 1 Wrenshall, MN 55797
SFA staff and volunteers occasionally take photos during our workshops, cafe chats and field days for promotional purposes and to use as documentation of events to share with our funders.
