Grass, Milk & Cheese: A Forage-Based Dairy in Action

10/16/2025 05:00 PM - 07:00 PM CT

Description

Join us for our final pasture-walk of the season at Fruitful Seasons Dairy in Alexandria, MN. Marv and Kathy Hoffman have been producing premium raw milk and cheese for 18 years on a strict forage diet.

We will tour the farm, discussing how the Hoffmans produce high quality milk organically, using no grain or silage. In accordance with MN law, they sell all their milk off the farm to a loyal and enthusiastic customer base. Their cheese is available at the farm and area stores plus is shipped around the contiguous states. The cows at Fruitful Seasons are a Jersey-based herd, and they are grazed intensively around the farm as much as possible. In the last couple of years, they have started to transition the operation to their son Chester and daughter-in-law Lois, who built living space on the farm and moved back recently.

Come learn how a forage-based small dairy can be a viable enterprise that makes good returns for smaller acreages. You won't want to miss this one!
This pasture-walk will be led by Jonathan Kilpatrick and the Hoffman family.

Pre-registration requested; walkups welcome.
