07/11/2026 10:00 AM - 03:00 PM CT

Description

Join us at Fairhaven Farm in Saginaw, MN for a hands-on Holistic Ecologic Monitoring Field Day, offered as part of the Measuring What Matters RSDP project for the St. Louis River and Cloquet River Watershed Project, led by Kyle Hildebrandt.

This field day will introduce the principles of Holistic Management and Ecological Outcome Monitoring, with a focus on learning how to “read the land” through the four ecosystem processes: water cycle, mineral cycle, energy flow, and community dynamics. This event is designed for community members interested in practical, place-based tools for understanding and improving ecological health across working lands and watersheds.

Let’s gather to learn how ecological monitoring can enable proactive land management to improve outcomes in soil health, biodiversity, and overall ecosystem function. We’ll start the day with an introduction to holistic monitoring fundamentals, discussion of how monitoring supports holistic land management.

Following lunch, there will be a field demonstration of Short-Term Monitoring methods used to assess ecologic indicators through time. Pizza lunch is provided by Fairhaven Farm and sponsored by MN Farmers Union.
